It's coming!

It's been a while that I promised version 2.0 of AjaxWhois and you might think the project has been abandonned. No it has not, and it's coming! Most of the code is done and I am now working on the graphic design and on a few tweaks. I sincerely think you will like the new version a whole lot better!

For the techies out there, the site has been ported to Ruby on Rails.

Version 2.0 should be up by the end of the month, but maybe I should stop telling dates or this will eventually be called vaporware!

Take care.

Carl

Hi, I just wanted to say that I've been using AjaxWhois to help find a name for my business, and it's been a tremendous time saver. I just wanted to report a couple names that incorrectly show as available: redcow.com and bigcheese.com. Both show the Whois record correctly though. Keep up the great work, this site is tremendously useful!

Vincent,

Efficiently guessing when a domain name is available is not an easy task. Sometimes, we need to trade off accuracy for speed. However, version 2.0 has a new improved algorithm which should help keep false-positives at a minimum!

alireza: we fetch whois information in real time. Some whois servers might be slower than others to update. This is normal...
